Founded in the fall of 1987, Tufts University's Traveling Treasure Trunk has always been a unique blend of theatre performance and community service. We are Tufts' only children's theatre troupe, and each semester, members of Trunk write or adapt, direct, costume, and produce their own plays (in addition to an ever-growing line up of skits and songs) to be performed at Boston-area schools, hospitals, libraries, and day-care centers. Performances are free of charge, though donations are happily accepted and given to a local child-oriented charity, chosen at the start of each year. The troupe holds auditions at the start of the Fall and Spring semesters and also puts on an on-campus show just before Tufts lets out for the Winter and Summer breaks.
The Sarabande Repertory Dance Ensemble of Tufts University is a group of dancers who choreograph, produce and perform shows for on-campus audiences each semester. Dancers are selected through an audition process and most have had training in ballet, jazz, or modern. The variety of talent the group attracts always results in a diverse showcase of dances. It is a great group to be involved in for any dancer that wants to continue dancing, performing, and/or choreographing throughout their time at college. Established in 2007, "The Institute" is not Tufts' oldest sketch comedy group. Nonetheless, they perform live and video sketches thrice a semester. Cheap Sox is Tufts University's only improvisational comedy troupe. The mission of Cheap Sox is simple: to make Tufts laugh very hard and frequently. If we fail in that attempt, please do not hesitate to throw rocks at us when passing us in the street.
Cheap Sox holds shows throughout the academic year and features both short-form and long-form comedy. Auditions will be held sometime in the first few weeks of school, so keep your eyes open! Contact Marcus Hunter at [email protected]!

Torn Ticket II is Tufts' student-run musical theatre organization. Like 3Ps, we put up one major production per semester and up to two minor productions. Recent majors have included A Man of No Importance, A Year With Frog and Toad, and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. It's easy to get involved and become a voting member, and we love to see new faces! We meet weekly at 6pm on Sunday evenings in the Zamparelli room of the campus center - all are welcome! Contact [email protected] or Rachel Adams!
Major: Undecided is Tufts' oldest sketch comedy troupe. Since 2004, the student-run group writes, acts in and produces two on-campus shows per semester and has performed in comedy festivals throughout New England, including winning Boston University's Funderdome sketch comedy competition. Having been an on campus entity for more than two decades, TUTV continues to create new content for the Jumbo population and beyond. No longer tied down to the traditional broadcast model, TUTV's series new and old can be found online on sources such as YouTube, with a comprehensive channel to be released in the near future. TUTV's programming boasts the longest-running original scripted series In Motion, a Tufts-set drama, now going into it's sixth season, in addition to the sketch comedy series The Institute, which kicks off its fifth season this fall. Fortunately for aspiring filmmakers, writers, and actors TUTV is home to several HD quality cameras and is always on the lookout for new series that will spark the interests of the campus viewership and beyond. Bare Bodkin is dedicated to providing an outlet for student playwrights and directors to produce their work and other experimental works. The Bare Bodkin Theatre Company is charged with increasing the amount of experimental and student written and directed theatre throughout the Tufts community as a means of generating more interest in the theatrical arts and supporting the incredible talents of primarily unrecognized artists. Additionally, there is a need on and off campus to provide theatre spaces for all interested directors. The company strives to accommodate the artistic visions of these students and to produce performances at Tufts that would otherwise not get the opportunity to perform because of their experimental nature. We are the only dance group at Tufts devoted to tap dancing. Each semester, we stage a show featuring a variety of pieces which are choreographed, taught, and performed by students. Our shows are open to Tufts students and performed on campus. We are active within the Tufts dance community, guest-performing in shows for Sarabande, BEATs, and the Amalgamates. We are also active in the greater Boston area and have performed with tappers from BU, Brandeis, and Harvard.
